Born in 1961 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Yuriy Shevchuk is a professional artist whose work is deeply rooted in his lifelong ions—painting, jazz, and vintage automobiles. He studied at the Kyiv Art School and the Kyiv Architectural Academy, where he began forming his distinctive visual language. Since 1993, he has lived and worked in Prague, Czech Republic—a city that often appears in his urban landscapes.
Yuriy works in watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, and mixed media. His style is expressive and dynamic, capturing rhythm, motion, and emotion—whether it's the intensity of a live jazz performance or the mechanical poetry of a classic race car. Rather than depicting vehicles with technical precision, he aims to reveal their soul, evoking the atmosphere of an era. In his portraits of jazz and rock musicians, he translates sound into color and gesture.
A highlight of Yuriy’s career was his collaboration with the production team behind the 2019 film Ford v Ferrari (released in Europe as Le Mans ’66), where his artwork featured in a key scene. Another significant project was his large-scale mural for the Shelby American Collection Museum in Boulder, Colorado, depicting the legendary Ford GT40 cars in dramatic action.
An associate member of the Pastel Society of America since 2007, his works are part of private and public collections worldwide. Through his art, Yuriy creates a dialogue between time and movement, silence and sound, architecture and improvisation—merging fine art with history and spirit.
