Xavier Alvarez, born in Paris in 1949, is a contemporary sculptor who began his artistic journey working with steel at the Beaux-Arts under the guidance of Professor César. This rigorous discipline in metalworking laid the foundation for his deep understanding of sculptural techniques. Over time, Alvarez developed a ion for bronze, prompting him to establish an art foundry in Touraine.
Initially exploring abstract forms, Alvarez later transitioned to creating sculptures characterized by their full, generous shapes, emphasizing curves and roundness. His meticulous process begins with crafting fine plaster originals, from which a matrix is produced to create wax proofs. Alvarez personally refines these wax proofs, ensuring fidelity to his artistic vision.
Each bronze sculpture undergoes an intricate process of casting, trimming, chiseling, polishing, and patination, all completed by hand. The artist carefully examines every piece before it is numbered and signed, a testament to his dedication to quality and authenticity.
