When in a creative state, I not only strive to capture what I experience physically, but also what I experience mentally and emotionally. I have painted throughout my career numerous landscapes in oil or gouache. More recently, I ventured into collage, and found that I could create mental landscapes by cutting and pasting paper to tell a story. "Urban Sprawl" tells the story of an abundant green (grass) and blue (sky) space within a landscape that soon gave way to an abundant grey space, with little grass and sky left.

Shyami Codippily was born in Sri Lanka, and moved to the USA with her family.  She has been an artist since she was three years old, painting in oil, watercolors, and gouache; sculpting in marble; and creating various 2-d and 3-d works with various other materials. She uses her art as an avenue to communicate her experiences with nature.  She has received numerous National and International awards throughout her artistic career.
Shyami is also the author, artist, and producer of three acclaimed books on Howard County, Maryland: Farms Never To Be Forgotten, Churches Never To Be Forgotten, and Manors Never To Be Forgotten.
Each piece of artwork that she has created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
