Sevda Demir, a Turkish abstract figurative expressionist painter, was born in Çorum in 2003. She studied at the Conservatory-Fine Arts High School Painting Department from 2017 to 2021 and is currently continuing her academic education at Eskişehir Anadolu University’s Fine Arts Faculty Painting Department, where she has been enrolled since 2021. Demir has participated in numerous international and national exhibitions, with her works featured in various museums and private collections abroad.
Influenced by the abstract expressionism movement, Demir cites Michelangelo as her artistic role model. She often works to the accompaniment of classical music by composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Berlioz, and Wagner. Her large-scale works, developed under the influence of action painting, exude strong energy and visually capture the essence of music.
In her pieces, Demir translates the rhythm of emotions into curved color belts, baroque-inspired windings, and swirling cloud formations, all aligned with the principles of abstract expressionism. She primarily uses oil on canvas, skillfully blending a spectrum of colors—from reds and blues to greens and purples—onto black backgrounds, creating a dynamic interplay of tones with a single brushstroke.
