Il découvre la Nouvelle Calédonie et sa lumière à l’âge de 10 ans. La ion de la photographie se révèle alors très vite et il intègrera 8 ans plus tard, l’Ecole Nationale de Photo et de Cinéma Louis Lumière à Paris. Fraîchement diplômé, il décide boitiers en mains de partir découvrir le monde ; Afrique, Amérique, Caraïbes, Bassin Méditerranéen. Quelques années après, ses pas le ramènent en Nouvelle Calédonie. Il prolonge son travail de photographe par le métier d’éditeur et publie un dizaine d’ouvrages maintenant distribués en métropole. Il collabore également à de nombreuses publications et revues en Europe. Installé en Nouvelle-Calédonie depuis de nombreuses années, Pierre-Alain Pantz partage son activité de photographe professionnel avec celle d'éditeur au travers des Editions Solaris. Il collabore régulièrement avec des publications étrangères et son regard curieux lui fait appréhender chaque reportage comme un nouveau challenge visuel. Ses domaines de prédilection sont la photographie aérienne, industrielle, d'architecture, sportive, sociale, institutionnelle et d'illustration. Mais chaque photo est une aventure qu'il vous propose de partager avec vous sur ce site. Une relation particulière le lie à l’Ile de Tanna au Vanuatu et en 2006 il créé une organisation à vocation humanitaire : Solidarité Tanna
