Every child is an artist. For me, everyone is an artist. A lazy artist who said everything is art took me to this assertion. I'm lazy as well, I only do what distracts me.

I came to UK in 1994 and I got a boring job. It was hard to adapt to the system. Being asocial rarely people likes me, local working politics and populism did the rest. I started losing my hair in droves and at the same time, the paper dust from criminal cases was affecting my health. To balance this I took up painting.

I never thought about competitions, but my S colleagues told me to enter in the competition. It was a competition for civil servants. I followed the bureaucratic rules literally and I created a work that reflected the title, 'Honesty, Integrity, Impartiality, and else'.

The jury went off the script and selected a work that was just a red blot, nothing to do with the rules. I was the runner-up, but I was happy, democracy had won, those rules felt as I was still living in a communist country, where ideals do not correspond to the reality.

I'm also an author, Phillip Reese on Amazon's, with books like The Amateur (now waiting for the 2nd edition), BRUSHES & MICE, MICE & BRUSHES, THE AMATEUR, BEFORE I LOST MY COUNTRY (a personal journey in old Africa), Poems Riding Poems (adapting to London, a new world), and a few more titles.

You're welcome to visit me.
