The Thinker of Auguste Rodin is a man lost in thought, a
poet sitting on the gates of hell, thinking about Paradise and Inferno, being a representation of the famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri, adapted from his poem Divine Comedy.
Rodin’s Thinker’s uncomfortable and unusual position suggests that he is thinking about serious matters involving life and death situations, pondering fate and solutions
to everlasting problems.
My thinkers are polar opposites: The one who is Auguste Rodin’s, thinking about human involvement in worldly desires, his pose illustrating his concentration and focus in his thoughts whereas my Thinker is engulfed in mundane things. One is solving life’s mysteries while the other is trying to live with them. The former is trying to find
the meaning of happiness in life and the latter trying to find happiness within it.
Common men nowadays only want to make life easier and become prosperous in order to become happier, never thinking seriously about what it takes to make one happy.
