About our fine printsВ старину были очень жестокие зимы. Однажды поднялась страшная пурга. Люди даже высунуться не смели из чумов. Гуси и разные другие птицы зарылись в снег с головами. Лишь один человек оказался смелым и отправился в путь. Долго блуждал он и вот набрел на теплую страну. Вернулся он к своим людям и сказал:
- Я нашел хорошее, жаркое место.
Услыхала его рассказ маленькая птичка-чирок и оповестила весь свой птичий народ. Узнали о теплой стране гуси, лебеди и другие птицы, и все улетели. И люди из племени того человека, который весть принес, тоже стали собираться в путь. А человек этот сказал:
- Все теперь слышали мою весть!
Но сам он не пошел, остался на прежнем месте. Сшил он себе теплую доху, чтобы спастись от холода. Надел эту доху и в птицу луня превратился
Идут люди все вместе, держатся друг за друга, ищут дорогу в теплую страну. По пути подстреливают дичь для своего пропитания. У старинных людей оружием были луки. Чтобы стрелы летели прямо в цель, люди привязывали к их нижним концам орлиные перья. Однажды убили эти люди по пути орла и стали делить его перья. Из-за дележа принялись спорить и пререкаться: одному, мол, мало, а другому много перьев досталось Один человек другому стал говорить:
- Мало перьев дал ты мне. Не стану теперь говорить на твоем языке!
И каждый из этих людей стал говорить на другом языке. Вот откуда пошли долгане, якуты, тунгусы и самоеды. Вот почему появились народы, говорящие по-разному.
20. D’où viennent les différents peuples (conte dolgane)
Les hivers d’autrefois étaient très rigoureux. Un jour il y eut une grande tempête de neige. Les gens n’osaient même pas mettre le nez hors de leur tchoum. Les oies et les autres oiseaux s’enfouirent dans la neige. Un seul homme se montra courageux et se mit en route. Il erra longuement et finalement tomba sur un pays chaud. Il rentra chez les siens et dit :
- J’ai trouvé un bon endroit, un pays chaud.
Une sarcelle d’hiver, un petit oiseau, entendit son récit et en fit part au peuple des oiseaux. En apprenant cette nouvelle, les oies, les cygnes ainsi que les autres oiseaux s’envolèrent vers ce pays chaud. Les gens de la tribu de cet homme se mirent en route aussi. L’homme dit :
- Maintenant tout le monde a entendu cette nouvelle !
Mais lui, il ne partit pas, il resta sur place. Il cousit une longue pelisse pour se protéger du froid. Il mit cette pelisse et se métamorphosa en busard.
Alors les gens partent tous ensemble, en se tenant par la main, et cherchent un chemin vers ce pays chaud. En cours de route ils tirent du gibier pour se nourrir. L’arme d’autrefois était un arc. Pour que les flèches atteignent la cible, les gens accrochaient des plumes d’aigle au bout des flèches. Un jour, sur leur chemin, les gens tuèrent un aigle et commencèrent à se partager les plumes.
Ils se mirent à se disputer et à se quereller : pour l’un ce n’était pas assez, pour un autre c’était trop. Un homme dit à un autre :
- Tu m’as donné très peu de plumes. Je ne veux plus parler ta langue !
Alors chacun de ces hommes se mit à parler une autre langue. Voilà pourquoi il y a les Dolganes, les Yakoutes, les Toungouzes et les Samoédes. C’est la raison pour laquelle les peuples parlent des langues différentes.
