Franziska Kolbe was born in Magdeburg in 1981, her roots lie in GDR history.

She studied performing arts from 1998 to 2003 at the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main and at the Berlin University of the Arts.

During and after her studies, she performed on a variety of stages in and as a street artist.

In addition to the theater, she also appeared in short and feature films.

You are not only interested in acting on stage, but also in directing yourself.

Your productions range from Jan Fabre's monologues to Kleist's "Penthesilea" to Borchert's post-war drama "Outside the Door", as well as her own improvisational solos as a clown.

In 2006, after the birth of her first child, she began teaching acting and exploring other areas of art of life.

In 2009 she decided to get training in writing screenplays. In 2010 she made her first short film, “Given to the Gods,” for which she developed the script and directed it.

In parallel to her theater and film work, she discovered painting and photography while studying at the University of the Arts, she was fascinated and interested in fine art and all its spectrums.

"With fine art I have the opportunity to have absolute freedom independent of space and time, human laws and political circumstances To create your own moments, worlds and perspectives at any time, to stay in the creative process, to be able to think with all your senses... I can't ignore this freedom, to open up to this is a must."

Since this awareness, she has approached painting and its techniques, photography and the multifaceted nature of art in an autodidactic manner.

Franziska Kolbe has lived in Wuppertal since 2003.
