Le Palais des Doges et la rive des "Schiavoni" qui déroule ses façades et ses églises jusque vers les jardins du quartier du Castello, miroitant dans l'air vaporeux de la lagune.
Le soleil est brulant et la Piazzetta est désertée par les promeneurs qui se réfugient dans l'ombre rouge des arcades.
Les couleurs font de même et seuls des jaunes d'or ou des orangés chaleureux s'accrochent encore aux embrasures des fenêtres, aux poutres des plafonds ou dans les gondoles amarrées le long des quais.
Ce tableau est un diptyque composé d'un grand panneau de 80cm de hauteur par 59cm de largeur et d'un petit panneau de 80cm de hauteur par 11cm de largeur, l'espacement entre les panneaux sur les images est de 3cm.

Painting Pastel

Pastel is an instrument widely used in plastic arts. Taking the form of a colored plastic stick, it is composed of pigments, a filler (chalk or plaster) and a binder (gum arabic, oil, wax). We mainly distinguish fatty pastels (oil or wax), dry pastels, whether soft or hard. Invented in Europe at the end of the 15th century, this tool was very quickly used by great portrait painters of French royalty, such as Charles Le Brun, Rosalba Carriera, Jean Siméon Chardin or Maurice Quentin de La Tour, who will be considered the "Prince of pastellists", thanks to a method of fixation of which only he knew the secret.
