Olivier Barau is now recognized as an artist-author after devoting many years to learning and teaching photography. His ion for this art goes back almost 42 years, when, at the age of 20, he started with a Ricoh KR 5 V2. At that time, he developed his own negatives and printed his photos on Ilford paper, transforming his bathroom into an improvised laboratory. This process was facilitated by the fact that his ex-wife also shared this ion for photography.

However, with the arrival of children, the demands of a 3x8 work schedule and the vagaries of daily life, Olivier Barau moved away from artistic photography to concentrate on souvenir photos. It was only at the age of 50 that he decided to reconnect with his ion, by equipping himself with a Sony A350, followed by the A77 and A99 models.

His reintroduction to the world of photography was initially solo before he ed a photography club, of which he became president a year later. This five-year experience allowed him to develop his skills considerably. Despite a burglary that deprived him of all his equipment, Olivier bounced back by switching to Nikon and acquiring a D750 and a D7000, while always keeping his trusty Sony RX100 V2 within reach.

Three years ago, he responded to his community's request to create a new photography club, bringing together around twenty .

Olivier Barau's photographic universe is rich and varied. Although he is particularly attracted to concert and dance photography, he also explores other genres such as wildlife photography, macro, portraits and street photography. His diversity of approach is a testament to his desire to experiment and capture beauty in all its forms.
