Music of the Spheres (2024) Painting by Andrii Zhukov
Seller Andrii Zhukov
The music of the spheres as interpreted by the artist is an allegory of music as feelings in its entire scope — from joy to sorrow. The music of joy is depicted as a woman wearing a golden wreath, the music of peace and tenderness as a woman wearing a silver wreath, and the music of sorrow as a woman wearing a bronze wreath. The things that disturb us are unchanging. Therefore, feelings are depicted as goddesses or muses. I wanted to present it in a more modern way, so the listeners are wearing headphones.
Of course, everything has roots in mythology and ancient cosmogony and philosophy. We all come from somewhere and go somewhere. And where do ideas, thoughts, and feelings come from? We are all guests here and connected to something above and beyond our comprehension. The wires from the headphones that extend beyond the canvas symbolise this connection. Music transforms us, arouses our feelings and disappears after affecting our actions and deeds. The three women can also be associated with the three Fates (Moirai) or the three graces.
This painting will be available after the artist's solo exhibition.
