Aussi loin que je me souvienne, j'ai toujours été attiré par la représentation picturale. A l'école primaire, au lieu de coller une image pour illustrer une leçon d'histoire, je recopiais l'illustration d'un livre.
Plus tard, j'ai découvert l'huile. Sans aucune formation, j'ai commis quelques toiles puis, la vie professionnelle a pris le dessus et pendant 30 ans, les projets de peinture ne sont restés que projets.
Un changement de vie m’a amené ici, en Poitou et mon épouse a eu la bonne idée de m’offrir un coffret (en 30 ans, mes tubes avaient eu le temps de dépérir) et me pousser dans une association où enseigne Michel Bona. Ce fut mes véritables débuts dans la peinture. L’enseignement et les conseils de Michel Bona m’ont permis de m’exprimer et la retraite me donne le temps que je n'ai pas eu avant.
Belge d'origine, je suis logiquement influencé par la peinture flamande pour les clairs-obscurs et par le surréalisme de René Magritte et Paul Delvaux. Pour ce qui est de la technique, je travaille parfois l'esquisse à l'acrylique blanc sur fond noir avant de terminer à l'huile. L'huile car daltonien, et ayant donc quelques difficultés avec certaines couleurs, elle me donne le temps de revenir et corriger une couleur mal élaborée. De plus, l'huile donne un éclat particulier aux couleurs.
Continuellement, Michel nous enseigne de nouvelles techniques, de nouvelles approches de la peinture. C'est ainsi que mes dernières toiles m'emmènent vers ce qui sera peut-être mon univers pictural.
